Thai-Like Green Curry Recipe
3/4 lb dried garbanzo beans
1 (chickpeas) or about 3 cans
4 large green chilis (anneheim)
1 medium onion, chopped
1 tbsp chopped garlic
1/2 cup fresh cilantro (coriander)
1 (not too tightly packed)
1 rind of 3/4 lemon (removed
1 with vegetable peeler -- no
1 white pith)
2 tsp ground coriander
1 tsp ground cumin
1 tsp ground turmeric
1/4 tsp ground cardomon
1/4 tsp ground anise seeds
1 tbsp tamari (soy sauce)
1 tbsp worcestershire sauce
1 (optional -- not necessarily
1 cup apple juice
1 14 oz can evaporated skim
1 milk (or substitute soy or
1 rice milk)
1) Soak garbanzo beans and cook according to package directions (I
used a crock pot). 2) Take next set of ingredients and blend in food
processor or blender until they form a paste. 3) Heat a non-stick
skillet over medium heat for a few minutes then add paste. Stir and
cook for about five minutes. Some of paste may stick and brown but
don't let it burn. Add apple juice and stir to unstick bottom crust.
Cook for another 5 minutes stirring. 4) Add cooked garbanzo beans and
bring to a low boil. Reduce heat and simmer about 15 minutes. 5) Add
evaporated milk and simmer another 15 minutes. 6) Serve over rice.

Food Tips of the Week
If you wish to become slim and boost your all round health, then, as any dietician will tell you, you really should eat a thoughtfully calculated sensible daily routine. At best, this should include five measures of grains and vegetables each day and also incorporate the right mix of important nutrients.
Some lower carb diet tips:
* Make reduced carb breadcrumbs for deep fried or oven baked foods.
Although you may be able to buy low carb breadcrumbs, you may make them yourself by using low carb bread. All you have to do is simply toast the low carb bread in a pre-heated oven on a sheet of cookie paper. Once it is quite hard and crispy, process it in your food mill. To store, keep in an airtight container.
* Understand the food labels
Don't trust sales blurb that claims to be 'low carb' - check the nutritional information on the back of the can or package. Many are only marginally lower and in some cases still more than a competitors usual brand. In addition, beware of 'low sugar' and 'low fat' labels - 'low sugar' doesn't always mean 'low carb' - often the carbs are identically the same.
Foods rich in lycopene
(includes apricots, papaya & tomato puree)
The chemical lypcopene is a naturally occurring coloring agent and a member of the carotenid family of phytochemicals. It is accountable for the vivid red colour of many fruits and vegetables.
Unlike many other healthy agents, it is not damaged if it is cooked, rather it is actually increased in efficacy by cooking.
Its key health contribution is that it is an antioxidant and is thought to help reduce the probabilty of cancer.
It is the most effective remover of singlet oxygen, which is connected with skin aging. It is also thought by many experts to curtail the growth of diseases affecting arterial blood vessels.
