Apple Pie (Sweet 'n Low) Recipe

Recipe Ingredients

2 lb mcintosh apples, peeled, and thinly, sliced (7 cups)
2 tbsp lemon juice
2 tbsp sugar
1 tbsp butter buds sprinkles
4 package sweet'n low (or 1-1/4 ts bulk)

Recipe Preparation

Preheat the oven to 375 F. Spray a 9-inch pie pan with nonstick
cooking spray.

In a large bowl, toss the apples with the lemon juice. In a small
bowl, combine the sugar, Butter Buds, Sweet'N Low, flour, cinnamon
and allspice. Add to the apples and toss to coat. Lightly spray one
sheet of phyllo dough with nonstick cooking spray. Fold in half and
spray again. Place in the pie pan with one edge hanging over the pan.
Repeat the process with the remaining 3 sheets of dough, overlapping
in the pan to cover the bottom completely. Spoon the apple mixture
into the pan. Fold the edges of the dough over to cover the apples.
Spray with nonstick cooking spray. Bake 35 minutes, or until the
dough is crisp and the apples are tender when pierced with a sharp
knife. Cool slightly before serving.

Serve with nonfat frozen vanilla yogurt, if desired.

Variation: Seven cups of sliced fresh peaches or pears, or fresh
blueberries, may be substituted for the apples. (Makes 1 9-inch pie,

Food Tips of the Week

Dieting made easy

One useful tip is to drink plenty of water. From time to time at some stage in a hectic morning, you guess that you want a snack but in fact you might just need a refreshing glass of water or orange squash. The feelings of needing food and needing a drink are quite similar, but one of the two can lead to a broken diet and the other is ok.
Some reduced carbohydrate diet pointers:

* Eat regular meals Most low carb recipes are, well...., low in carbohydrates. Your body requires energy, and carbs are a very efficient energy source. A reduced carb diet needs extreme care in controlling your energy levels, as any energy provided by non-carbohydrate sources is slower acting.

Foods containing allyl sulfides
( includes garlic, onions and spring onions)

The onion, leek and garlic family is high in allyl sulfides, a chemical which experts believe might be linked to a reduced risk of stomach and colon cancer.
Although there is not enough, hard medical proof available, allyl sulphides are also thought by many experts to reduce the symptoms of colds, sterilization and diabetes.

Foods containing allyl sulfides are also good for weight loss, so should be included in your weight loss program.
