Food Tips of the Week

The argument against low carb diets
Its all the rage, but it is truly safe and healthy for you?
Elevated consumption of animal-based products might lead into high consumption of saturated fat and cholesterol, which a few authorities believe will increase the probability of coronary problems.
Most of the unpleasant side-effects stated, like persistent tiredness, constipation, diarrhea, or bad headaches seem to be only temporary, but critics contend that low carb diets are not without serious long term side effects.
Frozen Fish Can Taste as Good as Fresh!
One of the problems with using frozen fish is that it often tastes bland and stale after it has been defrosted. This can be easily overcome by defrosting the fish in a bowl of milk, which brings back the 'nice' taste of fresh fish.
Foods rich in lycopene
(includes water melon, red bell peppers and sweet gourd)

Lycopene is a non-synthetic chemical compound and member of the phytochemical group known as 'carotenids'. Lycopene is the reason for the deep red hue of a good number of fruit, vegetables and pulses.

Fortunately, unlike many nutrients, this useful phytochemical is not damaged if it is cooked, but is in actuality enhanced by going through the cooking process.

. Its most important nutritional contribution is that it behaves as an antioxidant and is believed to help reduce the chances of contracting cancer.

It is the most effective quencher of singlet oxygen, which is associated with aging of the skin. It's also thought by many researchers to hamper the progression of atherosclerosis.
