Food Tips of the Week

Some low carb diet tips:
* Read food labels Don't trust food packaging that boasts 'low carb' - check the real nutritional information on the rear of the package. Quite a few are only slightly lowered and in some cases still greater than a competitors usual brand. In addition, beware of 'low sugar' and 'low fat' labels - 'low sugar' does not always mean 'low carb' - usually the carbs are identically the same.
* Use reduced carb chocolate for chocolate muffins. If you have taken the time to convert your most popular chocolate cookie or chocolate muffins recipe using soy flour, it would be crazy to mix in those high carbohydrate chocolate chips. Break up a low carbohydrate choccie bar into tiny chunks and use that as an alternative.
* Make low carb breadcrumbs for breadcrumb coated foods. While you can probably buy reduced carbohydrate bread crumbs, you may make them yourself by simply using low carbohydrate bread. All you have to do is simply toast the low carbohydrate bread in your oven on a baking tray. Once it is hard, whizz it in your food mill. To store, keep in an airtight jar.

Diet tips

In planning a meal plan, the important thing is to try to cut down your ingestion of fat, salt and refined carbohydrates.
Flavonoid rich foods
(inlcudes cranberry, spinach, garden pea & thyme)

The compounds known as flavonoids discovered in these natural foods show promise as anti-carcinogens.
Medical experts who have been studying the properties of flavonoids believe they also have numerous healthy properties, including anti-dermatitis and antioxidant activities..
The majority of these are also low in calories, so should be included in your diet system.
