Bean Burgers #2 Recipe
4 whole wheat bread slices
16 oz vegetarian refried beans, ca
1 cup millet or brown rice, cooked
1/4 cup oats, quick-cooking
1/4 cup tomato paste
1/2 tsp garlic powder
1/2 tsp salt
1 tbsp arrowroot
3 tsp onion, finely minced, or
Process bread, one slice at a time, in a dry blender to form soft
crumbs. M all ingredients together well. Form into 8 patties. Brown
on each side n a vegetable-oil sprayed non-stick skillet. Serve as is
or on whole wheat buns with lettuce, sprouts and ketchup, if desired.
Per patty: 131 calories, 6 protein, 25 g carb, 6 g fat (4%)

In deciding on a meal plan, it is essential to also make sure you cut down your ingestion of refined carbohydrate, fat and salt.
Some lower carb diet guidlines:
* Eat regular meals
Most reduced carb recipes are, you won't be surpised to learn, low in carbs. We all need energy, and carbs are a quick acting energy source. A low carb diet requires great care in controlling your energy levels, as any energy contributed by non-carbohydrate sources is slower acting.
* Use reduced carb chocolate bars for cookies and muffins.
Once you have converted your favorite chocolate cookie or chocolate muffins recipe using soy flour, you donít want to mix in those high carbohydrate full-sugar chocolate. Cut up a reduced carb bar of chocolate into little pieces and use that in its place.
