Blue Cheese Dressing (Dgsk75a) Recipe

Recipe Ingredients

1/2 lb roquefort or blue cheese
1 (sharpest flavor)
1 pt hellmans or best foods
1 mayonnaise (regular)
1/2 cup milk
1/4 cup wine vinegar
2 tbsp fresh lemon juice
1 pinch salt
1 tbsp sugar
1/8 tbsp worcestershire sauce
1 clove garlic, finely minced
1/8 large onion, finely minced

Recipe Preparation

The recipe for Blue Cheese dressing originated at the Waldorf-Astoria
many years ago. It is very thick and chunky; use as a dip, on
sandwiches and as a salad dressing. Crumble cheese by hand (chunky).
Combine all ingredients. Add crumbled blue cheese. Beat mixture by
hand until well-blended. Refrigerate 1-2 hours. This recipe makes
about 1 quart. It will keep 10-14 days in refrigerator. I double the
amount of blue cheese; I prefer the sharpest cheese available.
Increase/decrease items to taste. ENJOY!

Food Tips of the Week

A few tips on healthy eating

If you enjoy eating, but want to get in shape and improve your overall vitality, then, as most people know, you need to start a thoughtfully prepared well-balanced meal plan. In a perfect world, this needs to contain 5 standard portions of grains, fruit and vegetables daily and embrace the right proportion of food types.
The case against reduced carb diets
Its popular as hell, but it is truly safe for you?
Increased consumption of animal-based products might lead into increased consumption of saturated fat and cholesterol, which many authorities believe will increase the chance of heart disease.
Many scientific studies over the last few years have shown that high consumption of animal fat can result in greater probability of cancer, coronary problems and other serious illnesses.
Foods containing allyl sulfides
( includes pickled shallots, white onions and spring onions)

The onion family of vegetables is rich in allyl sulphides, a chemical which experts believe might be linked to a reduced risk of stomach and colon cancer.
Although there is insufficient hard medical proof at hand, allyl sulfides are also thought by nutritionalists to reduce symptoms with blood circulation, sterilization and diabetes.

Foods containing allyl sulfides are low in calories, so should be included in your weight loss program.
