Food Tips of the Week

Dieting tips

If you wish to become slim and boost your all round health, then, as any dietician will tell you, you really should eat a thoughtfully calculated sensible daily routine. At best, this should include five measures of grains and vegetables each day and also incorporate the right mix of important nutrients.
Some reduced carbohydrate diet tips:
* Don't miss meals Most low carbohydrate recipes are, not surprisingly, low in carbohydrates. Our bodies need energy, and carbohydrates are a quick acting source of energy. A lower carbohydrate diet requires care and attention in monitoring you energy intake, as any energy contributed by protein and fat is slower acting.

* Don't forget the fiber Decreasing the carbs in your meals often results in fiber reduction as well. Check for reduced carbohydrate recipes that are rich in fiber to redress this.

Lycopene super foods
(includes apricot, red bell peppers & rosehip)

The nutrient lypcopene is a naturally occurring chemical compound and a member of the same group of phytochemicals as carotene. Lycopene is accountable for the red color of quite a few natural foods.

Usefully, unlike most other nutritional compounds, this useful phytochemical does not degrade if cooked, but is noticeably increased in efficacy by cooking.

. Lycoprene's most valuable health contribution is that it is an antioxidant and appears to be an asset in the battle to lower the risks of developing cancer.

This useful phytochemical is the most potent fighter of singlet oxygen, which is correlated with skin aging. It's also believed to slow down the growth of atherosclerosis.
