Beef Stroganoff For 1 Recipe

Recipe Ingredients

1/2 lb beef chuck steak or roast
1 tbsp butter or margarine
1/2 tbsp salad oil
1/8 lb mushrooms, sliced
2 tbsp onion, finely chopped
1/4 tsp salt
1/4 tsp worcestershire sauce
1 dash paprika
1 dash pepper
1/4 cup sour cream
1 chopped parsley, sprinkle
1 hot cooked noodles or rice

Recipe Preparation

Discard bone and fat from meat and cut into thin, bite-size strips.
Heat 1/2 tb of the butter with the oil in frying pan over medium-high
heat. Add mushrooms and onion and cook, stirring until golden. Lift
out and set aside.

Add remaining 1/2 tb of butter to pan. Add beef strips and cook over
high heat, turning meat and shaking pan, just until browned. Remove
pan from heat, stir in reserved mushroom-onion mixture, salt,
Worcestershire, paprika, pepper and sour cream. Return pan to low
heat and cook, stirring constantly, just until sauce is heated
through--do not boil.

Sprinkle with parsley. Serve over noodles or rice.

A few tips on healthy eating

In planning a diet, the important thing is to also endeavour to restrict your ingestion of refined carbohydrates, salt and fats.
Some lower carb diet guidlines:
* Use reduced carbohydrate chocolate bars for cookies and muffins. Once you have converted your best loved chocolate chip cookie or muffins recipe using soy flour, you don’t want to add in those high carbohydrate full-sugar chocolate. Cut up a reduced carbohydrate choccie bar into small pieces and use that as an alternative.

* Use splenda instead of sugar. Many recipes that use sugar can be modified to make use of a sugar replacement instead. It doesn't weigh the same so you will need to do a bit of trial and error and it may not work for everything, but it gives pretty good results in most cases.

The onion and garlic family of foods is rich in allyl sulfides, a chemical which experts believe could be linked to a reduced risk of stomach and colon cancer.
Although there is precious little hard medical proof obtainable, allyl sulphides are also thought by nutritionalists to reduce the symptoms of colds, arteriosclerosis and fatigue.

Foods containing allyl sulfides are also low in calories, so should be included in your diet system.
