Aloha Salad Recipe from the Recipes 4U Cookbook

 

Aloha Salad Recipe

Recipe Ingredients

2 cup california dried figs
1 fresh pineapple
1 cup mandarin oranges
1 cup whipping cream
2 tbsp sugar
1/2 cup toasted flaked coconut
1 fresh mint (optional)

Recipe Preparation

Slice dried figs. Slice pineapple into half; scoop out center; cut
into bite-size chunks. Drain oranges. Arrange figs, pineapple chunks
and oranges in pineapple shells. Whip cream; stir in sugar and
coconut (reserve some coconut for topping, if desired). Spoon over
fruits. Garnish with fresh mint, if desired.

Dieting made easy

One useful tip is to drink plenty of water. From time to time at some stage in a hectic morning, you guess that you want a snack but in fact you might just need a refreshing glass of water or orange squash. The feelings of needing food and needing a drink are quite similar, but one of the two can lead to a broken diet and the other is ok.
Some lower carbohydrate diet pointers:
* Replace sugar with a low carb substitute such as splenda. Most recipes that require sugar can be changed to make use of a sugar substitute like splenda. It doesn't weigh the same so you will have to expirement with it and it might not be perfect in every case, but it gives very good results once you have it cracked.

* Use low carb chocolate bars for chocolate muffins. Once you have converted your most popular chocolate chip cookie or chocolate muffins recipe using soya flour, you really don't want to add in those high carb standard chocolate. Chop up a low carbohydrate choccie bar into little pieces and use that in its place.

Flavonoid rich foods
(inlcudes onion, spinach, kidney bean & thyme)

The nutrients called 'flavonoids' which exist in these fruits and vegetables are believed to have properties in fighting cancer.
Experts studying the nutritional effects of flavonoids think that they may well also have many other benefits to our wellbeing, amongst them, anti-candida and antitumor properties.
The majority of these are low in calories, so should be included in your weight loss regime.
